so, there's a lot of media to post tonight. i have a before and after picture of the newly restores chairs taken only four years apart. we also have a buttFUZZ update. sadly today she got spay and well that's gotta hurt. i took her to the vet at 7:20 this morning to start the process and the vet said that if she had the operation this morning we could pick her up later tonight. Turns out they called Kate and she picked her up after work. Well, it turns out after they take out a female cats "parts" they have to put a cone on the little lady so she doesn't...... well...... pick at it i guess. because it was the funniest and saddest thing little buttFUZZ has had to endure I thought I'd document it and share it with you the dport7 faithful. Kate chose the music and she really nailed this one.

update time!!!! So over the past week the chair saga has continued....In the last post I was taking off the old shock absorbers at the apt. I then took the shells to work where there is a small workshop to do the sanding and the gluing for the new shock attachment. As always doing anything in the city with no car and public trans is a challenge. Lucky for me Monday was a holiday so the trains were mostly empty. I was able to carry all three chair shells in with me on my way to work (my office doesn't observe MLK day). As planed I went in to work early and stayed late all week to complete all the sanding and gluing and now today Friday I'm able to take them home. I posted a few shots of the process for you. Why? Because I know you care deeply.
Hey Paul, how's the ShittyKitty thing working out? I'm glad you asked. buttFUZZ is seeming to adjust to it pretty smoothly. We removed the first ring and she didn't freak out and still jumps up on the toilet to use it. I don't have any pictures but I did walk in on her one time and saw she was sitting with all four paws on the seat while she was taking care of her business. So that's a good sign.
Stay tuned I'll post some pics of the finished chairs this weekend. I'm sure your dieing see the finished project.

In the spirit of documentation I'd like to tell you about a little project I'm working on. As many of you might remember from my first post ever (scroll to bottom) I "found" 3 Eames school shell chairs in my short stint in Cincinnati at the hospital's smoking hut. Because they were owned by a institution they have what's called the school legs on them and over the years those legs have rusted and fallen apart. For years now I've vowed to buy new legs and repair these chairs. After asking around I found a place online in California called modernica that sells the new more stylish legs I was after. As it turns out the Eiffel legs don't have the same hole pattern that the school legs do. After some sadness i found a website that shows how to remove the old hole pattern and set up a new one, by replacing the shock absorbers. The next challenge was finding the shock absobers. Leave it to ebay to have what you need. I just recived the parts yesterday and with any luck in the next week or so I'll have the rest of the process to show you. the picture below is the chair disasembled with two of the shock absorbers pried off.

as you may have heard it's a new year, and with that brings "change". this being the year of "change" got kate and I thinking. what if we use all this "change" momentum to do something in our own lives? after some though and some help from friends we decided that "change" should rest squarely on the shoulders of a little cat named buttFUZZ. that's right we are ganna keep the "change" ship sailing by teaching our cat to poo in a human toilet! (i'll give you a moment to recover).................... How the hell are you going to do that paul? I'll tell you. Maiken (good friend of dport7) told us of this device and process called citikitty or as i call it shittyKitty (they should have consulted before naming it). anyway shittykitty is a plastic tray of sorts that fits on your toilet under the lid. you put the kitty litter in it and the cat uses it as a litter box. you then over time remove pieces of the tray until the cat is sitting on the toilet seat using the bathroom as you or i would. what's great is no litter clean up. currently buttFUZZ likes to kick the litter around after she's done her business leaving an endless cleanup job for us. in a few week the mess is over and the cost of kitty litter is a thing of the past. with all the money we'll save kate and i can buy a boat............. or go to dinner, we'll have to see what the numbers look like.
Anyway i thought it might be funny to document buttFUZZ's progress. in a way the whole thing seems kinda pet owner crazy but it may turn out to be the best thing ever. stay tuned!!!! this is buttFUZZ using it for the first time. had to take the shot via iphone better quality next time. this is serious stuff.

Hey, everyone happy happy new year!!!! well i hope everyone had a great time at their new years parties. We sure did! Kate Ian and I went to a loft party thrown by our friend Erin (hands) Hanley. She rented this loft and everyone prepaid on paypal to come to the party it was great. I think if i could get myself organized it may be an option for the next SSP. Needless to say we all celebrated the coming of the new year with our usual heavy handed vigor. Ian took some falls but isn't to worst for the wear. I had a tough time on the 1st getting my strength back but Kate was ready for more party. (i'll post pictures soon)

yesterday Kate dug deep into her polish past to make some killer cabbage roles. I'm not all together certain, but I'm pretty sure i've had the magic that is cabbage roles before. Kate how ever nailed it on her first try. She invited a few friends over and told ian to pick out some good cheese and the result was a nice relaxing evening.

Today we are off to the adirondacks for a ski vacation. don't ask how or why it's a long story that none of us are really sure about. We leave soon and Ian seems to know where he's going. I always feel safe these days with the iphone maps forever by our sides.

lastly check out that f'n ring man!!!! that's right that ring resides on the hand of my brother big john diehl! He got it for being the head doctor for the minor league hockey team in Cincinnati! it's really pretty impressive. When i was home for christmas he asked me to post it so the smug phil anderson could see it. everyone enjoy it's glory!

UPDATE::::: I started the new frames09 which includes ski trip pics. New Years pics are back in frames08...... enjoy!!
